Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club

Founded in 1882, Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club is the second oldest golf club in Somerset but presidies on the oldest course in the county. It is also the second oldest course in the South West after Royal North Devon.

Whilst preserving the best traditions of the sport, the club have a progressive outlook and take pride in both maintaining and developing their magnificent course. There is always a warm and friendly welcome to individual golfers, societies, corporate groups and visitors.

Societies and organisations will find the attention to detail, flexibility and top-value golf packages of particular interest. There is a fully-stocked Pro-Shop, with something for everyone, and you can develop your game with a course of golf lessons from the club's PGA qualified professionals.

Minehead

Minehead, situated around 3 miles east of Hindon Organic Farm, is a charming coastal town and civil parish. It lies on the south bank of the Bristol Channel, and in proximity of the Exmoor National Park. Minehead has a population of approximately 10,330 making it the most populous town in West Somerset.

Attractions include the town's ornamental park (Blenheim Gardens), a variety of sailing and wind surfing options, and the usual beach activities. In addition, there are many other attractions, seafront amusement arcades, and a variety of high street stores, pubs, and restaurants.

Wimbleball Lake

Wimbleball Lake lies within Exmoor National Park near Dulverton, surrounded by woodland and meadows, and is a water supply reservoir constructed in the 1970s and completed in 1979.

Managed by the charity South West Lakes Trust, the lake offers a popular location for walking, camping, birdwatching, angling, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing and kayaking. In December 2005 the trust was successful in obtaining funding for a £1 million project to provide a new rowing store, conversion of barn space into showers and changing areas, new sports equipment, an accessible bird hide, and interpretation, improved access, and signage around the site. In 2006 a new £1 million activity centre opened.

Wimbleball Sailing Club provides training, cruising and racing for its members, it is a non profit family sailing club operating every Sunday throughout the year and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday during the summer. The club is also home to a Sailability group providing sailing for the disabled.
